You are asking yourself: “How can I make an extra $1000 a month?“.

Some days money never seems enough. No matter how much you save.

Maybe you need some extra money to pay off debt. Perhaps you want to increase your emergency fund. Or simply indulge in something nice for yourself, like a vacation. Or start investing in your future.

I know the feeling. I have been there.

And we are not alone.  A 2022 study reports that 40% of Americans have a side hustle to make extra money on top of their full-time job. And a staggering 59% of Gen-Z and 61% of Millennials have one.

Graphic: 61% of millennials and 59% Gen-Z have side hustles.

And each hustler makes, on average, $1057 a month.

Graphics: hustlers make on average $1057

So is there a way to get in on the trend? And increase your side income to an extra $1000 a month?

Over the years, I spent a lot of time researching the most creative ways to make money while pursuing the idea of passive income and financial freedom.

And what I found is that:

Making extra money doesn’t have to be complicated.

You are actually reading this blog, which is my side-hustle turned-full-time career after I was able to quit my job in 2019, after less than two years. So it’s possible to make $1000 on the side.

And even much more.

But I am not going to lie:

  • There are a lot of scam websites out there, and it can be hard to tell what’s legit.
  • You will find many ideas that will simply make you waste a lot of time for little money.
  • You will actually need to work to make an extra $1000. No one gives away that sort of money for free.

Making money isn’t necessarily easy, but it’s possible. And most of the time, the hardest part is to take action and get started.

Plus, by building different income streams, you will also be able not to rely 100% on your job and feel more secure about your future!

Depending on how much time you have available and how serious you are about making extra money, here you will find the perfect ideas to get you started.

And by combining one or more of these side hustles, you’ll be able to reach your goal in no time!

How can you make an extra $1000 a month?

1. Flipping for profit

POTENTIAL INCOME: $1000+ per month

Clothes hanging on a rack

What does “flipping for profit” even means?

Flipping means buying things for cheap and reselling them for more.

But is this still a thing? According to Forbes, the resale industry is “surging in popularity.”

And reselling is a great, sustainable way to profit from the boom of ecommerce.

I love this side hustle because you can literally make money from anything! You just need an eye for things that could make you a profit!

How can you get started?

  • Look in your closet. ThredUp reports that the second-hand apparel market will surpass $44 billion by 2029, overtaking traditional fast fashion. Why don’t you profit from this trend and start selling clothes online?
  • Upcycle your furniture. One of the ways you can make money flipping is by upcycling old furniture and giving it a new life!
  • Buy discounted items in bulk and resell them at full price. If you are an expert on a particular type of toy, or a brand of electronics, look for special discounts at local places like Walmart or Target. Buy them in bulk, then resell them online on eBay or Amazon at full price. Ryan does just that.

Melissa and Rob managed to make over $42,000 a year by working on flipping for less than 15 hours a week.

Some of the amazing deals they pulled off:

  • Old radio: Bought for $15, Sold for $200
  • Door handle: Bought for $8, sold for $200
  • Patio set: Bought for $50, Sold for $2,100

And they are now hosting a free webinar where they will show you 5 items that may be perfect for you to resell, plus 3 insider secrets to help you build and scale your own reselling business.

Check out the free webinar here. And if you are unsure what you can sell, check out this list of 30 Absolute Best Things To Sell For Money and the 20 Best Selling Apps to sell them.

2. If you love animals, try pet sitting

POTENTIAL INCOME: $10-$30+ per hour

A lovely black cat on a white sofa

Wouldn’t it be great to get paid to play with cats and dogs?

If you love animals, pet sitting and dog walking are great ways to make extra money. Pet sitting comes in different forms, but no matter what you do, you need to make sure animals are well looked after and loved!

The great thing about pet sitting is that you can decide when to do it and fit it around your schedule. It’s easy to do even if you work full time, as you can spend time during the weekend looking after your little friends.

And these days, dog walkers make more than childcare and eldercare workers.

A great website that will help you get started is Rover.

Rover offers different services to pet owners, and once you have registered with them, you will be able to decide which one you want to provide to your potential clients:

  • Dog walking: pick up dog walks that fit your schedule and get paid to walk
  • Doggy daycare: if you are a work-from-home type and don’t need to go to the office, pet daycare might be ideal.
  • House-sitting: stay with or visit pets every day in their natural home
  • Dog boarding: Care for a dog (or cat!) overnight in your home.

Depending on how many hours you can dedicate to pet sitting, you could make up to $100 (or more!) a week playing with dogs and cats alone!

If you want to give pet sitting a go, just click here to register!

3. Help researchers online

POTENTIAL INCOME: $40-$250 per research

woman answering online focus groups on her laptop while drinking coffee to make $1000 a month

If you’re looking to make $1000 a month, answering researchers’ questions can quickly help you to get there.

By becoming a part of research studies, online focus groups, or answering online surveys, you can help companies by sharing your opinion on products and services.

User Interviews is by far my favorite place to find online focus groups. The platform shows you different studies and what the researcher is looking for upon signing up. If you are interested in specific market research, you will be asked to complete a short survey.

You will be notified by email if you qualify for the research study.

On average, you can make around $80 per project, but you can also find studies that pay as much as $300! Generally, it takes around an hour to complete the study. I earned $535 in a month with them! You can read my full review here.

Respondent is very similar to User Interviews. Respondent offers you to get paid to participate in one-on-one research sessions and focus groups both online and in-person.

You can earn anywhere from $40 to $250!

Answering questions is an exciting way to make extra cash you probably didn’t even think of.

JustAnswer is a great platform to look into. If you are familiar with Quora, Just Answer is similar, in a way. Except, you get paid for your answers.

Essentially, JustAnswer connects professionals and experts in their field with people looking for experts’ opinions.

And you can make extra money by sharing your knowledge.

To become an Expert on JustAnswer, you need to provide information such as your social security number and relevant certifications.

5. House hacking

POTENTIAL INCOME: $500+ per month

Buildings in a city perfect for house hacking

The idea behind house hacking is to get a house bigger than you need and rent out the extra space to make money. You can then use that extra money to either pay down your mortgage faster or for anything else really.

There are many ways to house hack.

You could buy:

  • A duplex
  • A triplex
  • A fourplex
  • A multi-bedroom apartment
  • A single-family house with space that can be converted into an apartment

You could rent out the extra space to long-term tenants, or if you live in a big city or near a tourist destination, you could rent your spare room on Airbnb.

I love house hacking because it can minimize or even eliminate your housing costs altogether. And those costs are amongst the highest living costs we have, coming in on average at $1,674 per month.

Imagine what you could do with all that extra money?

Plus, house hacking can give you a taste of what passive income really is, and it could be your first step towards investing in rental properties if it’s something that interests you.

Chad here explains how he was paid to live in his own new home. And was making a $95 profit a month while his tenants paid his mortgage and utilities!

If you are interested in house hacking, take a look at my favorite Airbnb secrets, then check out these 6 Different Ways To Hack Your Housing.

6. Rent out your car, parking space, or RV

POTENTIAL INCOME: $500+ per month

RV in the desert at sunset

If you can’t earn money with house hacking because you don’t own your home or you don’t have the extra space, how about renting out other things?

We all have stuff around the house that we don’t use all the time.

Some of the coolest examples I found:

  • Rent your car: Websites like Turo let you share your car when you don’t use it, and you can earn an average of $706 per month!
  • Or a parking space: If you have a driveway or empty garage, you could easily make money by listing it on Craiglist or websites like Stow It.
  • Rent your RV: If you have an RV you don’t use all the time, you can earn up to $22,000 a year by renting it out on RVshare.
  • Rent your backyard: Yes, that’s right. If you have a house, you could earn cash by letting Rent The Backyard install an apartment in your backyard. The company’s owner claims you could make up to $16,000 a year after expenses. But you need to be prepared to pay for the initial investment.
  • Or pretty much anything else: On Fat Llama, you can rent pretty much anything! On average, you can make $50 a week, but according to the site, some top lenders make up to $3,000 a month. Don’t believe them? Antonio managed to buy his mum a flat by renting out his camera kit!

To get started as a bookkeeper, you have two options:

9. Write for money

POTENTIAL INCOME: $1000+ per month

Woman's hands typing on a laptop

Making money from writing has never been easier!

Today, online content is how brands and publishers get in front of their audience. According to WordPress, over 70 million articles are posted each month.

This means businesses need unprecedented help writing content every day. And if writing is your passion, you can help them while making money.

First, you need to decide what kind of writer you want to become.

Feature writing

Think feature articles for online magazines or newspapers. Ideally, you want to specialize in a field (real estate, nutrition, travel, personal finance) and become an expert.

Ghostwriting

As a ghostwriter, you will write articles, books, or blog posts for someone else who then puts their name on it. Perfect if you don’t mind being behind the scenes and not getting credit for your writing.

Copywriting

As a copywriter, you will produce creative content like website copy, emails, or sale pages to help businesses engage clients and sell.

Once you pick your writing field, you need to build your portfolio.

This means you will have to work for free for some time. Find online publications in your niche that accept guest writers or offer your services for free to potential clients.

Once you land your first paying gig, you can expect to make around $100 for every 2000-word-long article as a rookie.

Experts in their fields can charge up to $2000 for the same article.

If you’d love to earn extra money writing, check out my in-depth guide on How to Become a Freelance Writer.

10. Become a virtual assistant

POTENTIAL INCOME: $25+ per hour

Virtual assistant typing on a laptop, sitting on a bench in her flat

Working as a virtual assistant is becoming a more and more popular way to make money online. It can be a great side hustle, but you can also turn it into a full-time career.

You can do it from anywhere, anytime, and set your own rates!

Abbey is a great example of how to succeed as a virtual assistant. She started working as a VA on the side and within one month (yes, that’s not a typo), she was fully booked and able to work her own hours from home while being a mum.

And if you’re thinking of virtual assistants in terms of office jobs, think again! Yes, you can clean up someone’s emails, but you can also take care of someone’s social media or maintain someone’s WordPress website.

But how can you get started?

First, decide which services you are going to offer, and then figure out how to reach potential clients.

Two of the most popular platforms to find clients are Instagram and Facebook. Create a nice profile on Instagram, post helpful content in your field, follow people you would like to work with, and engage with them.

On Facebook, find groups dedicated to virtual assistants. There are plenty of job opportunities being posted daily!

When it comes to rates, most VAs start by charging hourly. For a US-based VA, $25 is a great place to start.

Considering starting a VA business? If this way to make an extra $1000 a month intrigues you, check out my comprehensive breakdown to find out how to become a virtual assistant with no experience. Plus, here you can find a useful checklist to help you start your VA business from home in no time.

11. Become an illustrator

POTENTIAL INCOME: $500+ per month

Illustrator working with a graphic tablet

Have you always enjoyed digital drawing and painting but never pursued your passion because you thought it was too difficult to make a decent income?

You could still make your dream happen by becoming an illustrator or graphic designer!

You can reach your goal of making $1000 a month in a couple of ways:

  • Work as a freelancer
  • Sell prints of your designs

To get started, you’ll need to build a portfolio.

Instagram is a great place to start. You can post pictures of your designs, build a following, and find your first client that way!

Many new illustrators find their first clients on platforms such as Fiverr or Upwork.

But I highly recommend you check out 99Designs! It’s a website dedicated to designing where you can register as a freelancer.

There are 2 ways of making money on 99Designs:

  • Participate in a competition: Each time a client requests a design, the platform runs a contest. The winner gets paid. This is a great way to increase your visibility if you are a beginner and want to improve your profile on the platform.
  • Private project: Here, you’ll need to find a client or be found by clients based on your portfolio.

You could also create vector illustrations and sell them on websites like Shutterstock to generate passive income month after month. Every time someone downloads your illustration, you get paid.

Joana started her own graphic design business at only 22, and within the first year, she made $100,000. All she wanted to do when she started was to make $2,000 to buy an online course. Her biggest advice is “Dream big!” and “Don’t be afraid to reach out to those a few steps ahead of you.”

Register on Fiverr, Upwork, or 99Designs to get started.

12. Proofread in your spare time

POTENTIAL INCOME: $30+ per hour

Woman proofreading books

Does your skin crawl every time you see a grammatical mistake?

How about correcting those mistakes for money?

If you love reading, are good with grammar, and love spotting errors, you could make an extra $1000 a month proofreading.

Content writing jobs are on the rise, and with that, increased demand for proofreaders. You see, no matter how many times you read through your article, there will still be typos.

You don’t need any special skills or certification to become a proofreader. However, you should have a top-notch grip on English grammatical rules and good typing skills.

Proofreading jobs are relatively easy to find. The best sites to get started are Upwork and Freelancer. Then there are also websites dedicated to proofreading jobs, such as Contena, Scribendi, or Proofreading Pal.

So, how much can you make?

According to Glassdoor, the average proofreader makes about $45,000 per year.

Caitlin, from Proofread Anywhere, made slightly over $43,000 as a freelance proofreader working part-time in her first year.

Sign up for Caitlin’s free workshop if you want to learn how to make $1000 a month as a proofreader. It’ll help you to find out if proofreading is for you and how to find your first clients.

13. Monetizing your skills

POTENTIAL INCOME: $50+ per hour

woman freelancing on her laptop from home

Monetizing your skills is probably one of the best ways to make an extra $1000 a month!

Why? Because you can make extra money by doing something you already do all day.

Like bookkeeping, proofreading, or offering your services as a virtual assistant, you can freelance or consult in many other areas.

Some of the top freelancing gigs out there, on top of the ones I have already mentioned, are:

  • Web And software development
  • Translation
  • Transcription
  • IT and networking
  • Customer service
  • Sales and marketing
  • Accounting and finance
  • Engineering
  • Architecture
  • Data Science

Start by creating a website. It can be on a free platform, like Wix. You don’t have to pay for it at the beginning.

Then build a portfolio, adding some of your past work, and use social media to promote your services.

  • Join Facebook groups related to your skills.
  • Have a virtual coffee with your friends and let them know what services you offer, and ask them if they know anyone in their network who could use a hand.
  • Ask previous employers or past clients.

Then join websites like Freelancer.com, Upwork, and Fiverr. You can also check my guide on How to Make Money on Fiverr for pro tips.

14. Deliver everything (from food to groceries to people)

POTENTIAL INCOME: $20+ per hour

Man delivering food

If you own a car, a bike, or a scooter, you can make extra cash by delivering groceries, takeaways, store orders, or people!

Delivering food and groceries

My go-to delivering apps are Instacart and DoorDash, both easily among the best money making apps right now.

Instacart is an app that offers food pickup and delivery, and they are always on the lookout for new drivers!

Kevin, for example, makes an extra $1000 every 2 weeks by delivering groceries with Instacart outside of his day job. He made $10,000 in just 6 months after downloading the app!

DoorDash is a similar app, except it doesn’t require you to own a vehicle. You can deliver items on a motorcycle or bike, or you can walk!

Vanessa delivers food for DoorDash in her spare time, making $20 to $25 an hour. And she makes over $2,000 outside of her day job as a news editor!

Join Instacart and DoorDash today! And for more ideas, check out how to get paid to shop.

Drive people around

And if delivering groceries isn’t your thing, you can drive people instead.

You could make some extra money each month by becoming an Uber or Lyft driver.

Sounds like something you’d love to do?

Here’s how you get started:

Check that you meet the minimum driver requirements and that you have an eligible vehicle. In most states, you only need a valid driver’s license and an insured 4-door vehicle less than 15 years old.

And if you have a driving license but no car, you can rent a vehicle at a discounted rate using one of Uber and Lyft partnerships.

Once you’ve confirmed you’ve met the requirements, simply download the Uber or Lyft app and register!

Many drivers can get their first fare less than a week after signing up.

Get started with Uber and Lyft today.

15. Start an online store

POTENTIAL INCOME: $1000+ per month

Woman surrounded by plants working on her laptop

Did you know that global ecommerce sales have nearly doubled since 2019?!

If you ever felt the urge to dip your toes into retail, now it’s the time to start and open a shop online.

There are multiple approaches you can take:

Dropshipping

With dropshipping, you can market and sell products online without buying and stocking inventory.

Your order will be shipped directly from suppliers to your customers as soon as an order is placed. This will allow you to scale up quickly without investing much in inventory.

But you won’t have much say on your product’s quality and delivery service.

Print-on-demand

This model is similar to dropshipping – you can sell custom designs on products like t-shirts, hoodies, mugs, phone cases, and canvases.

When an order is placed on your website, a third-party manufacturer prints your design on the product, packs it up and delivers it directly to the customer.

Printify, for example, offers over 200 products awaiting your customization!

Manufacturing

You will create your product and then either make it yourself or outsource it to a factory.

This will separate your product from competitors. And with good marketing, you can create a story behind your brand and a unique edge, as my friend Chloe does with her sustainable wooden lamps.

Custom made

On the opposite spectrum compared to dropshipping, you could offer hand-crafted, made-to-measure, or personalized items.

This requires a lot more work on your part and a bigger investment in materials and time.

But you can create unique concepts and designs for your customers, which give them the perfect reason to come to you instead of your competitors.

Once you have a good idea of what you would like to sell and the approach you want to take, you can look into the eCommerce platform to get started. Shopify is my favorite, but depending on your business model, you might be better off with a different option.

Check out my in-depth guide on how to start an online store to figure out what’s best for you.

16. Sell crafts on Etsy

POTENTIAL INCOME: $500+ per month

If you enjoy DIY and making items from scratch, you could make some extra money by selling your hand-crafted items on Etsy!

What I love about selling on Etsy is that it will give you the flexibility to work in your spare time and on your own schedule. Plus, it’s an incredible creative outlet to share your artistic passion with customers from all around the world.

First, decide what you are going to sell. You can sell pretty much anything on Etsy! From t-shirts to jewelry, to bath bombs and candles, even digital products.

Then set up your Etsy shop:
  • Simply click here to open an account.
  • Create stellar listings for your products. You will need beautiful, captivating pictures, click-worthy headlines, and persuasive descriptions.
  • Learn SEO and choose the top keywords. Like with everything online, learning the power of Search Engine Optimization is key. People will only find you if you use the correct tags and wording in your title and item description. Check the top tags and keywords used on Etsy with tools like Marmalead. Use as many tags as possible to make sure people find your shop.
  • Price your products right. First, calculate all your materials and expenses accurately. I’ve seen many people earn too little because they underestimate this point. Check your competitors. And remember: a low price doesn’t always mean more sales. Make sure you find the sweet spot to ensure top quality for your clients.

Here you can find my complete guide to selling on Etsy. And for more inspiration on what you can sell, check out this list of 15 best things to sell on Etsy

17. Blogging

POTENTIAL INCOME: $1000+ per month

Top view of a desk with black letters saying: "Start a blog"

Yes, I absolutely had to mention blogging.

After all, you are reading my side hustle turned full-time job right now.

When I started Gathering Dreams at the end of 2017, I couldn’t imagine in my wildest dreams that a humble little blog could turn into a six-figure business in less than 2 years.

My idea was to be able to make $1000 a month within a year of starting this blog.

Little did I know that it would take me less than 4 months to achieve that.

A blog is a great way to earn money doing something you love.

But to earn money blogging, you must be pragmatic and treat it like a business. And if you are willing to do that, there are no limits to how much you can make.

And I am far from being one of the top bloggers out there.

Some great examples of multiple six-figure blogs out there (that don’t talk about how to make money blogging!):

If you are ready to start, check out my in-depth guide to learn How To Start a Blog And Make Money. I warn you, it’s a long read…so get comfortable and grab a cup of coffee.

18. Buy an existing website

POTENTIAL INCOME: $500+ per month

Laptop on a white desk

If starting your own blog or online shop seems daunting and you have some money to invest, you could think about buying an existing website.

Why can this be a better option?

  • You won’t have to spend time setting everything up.
  • You could start making money from day one.
  • You’ll know immediately that there is a market for that website if it’s already making money.

Steps to take to buy an existing website:

  • Decide what type of business you would like to buy: eCommerce store, blog?
  • Set a budget.
  • Look at online marketplaces like Flippa.
  • Analyze the website and figure out if it’s a good investment.

Then, once you have purchased a website, you will need to work on growing your business.

Start by checking out websites for sale on Flippa.

19. Facebook Ads

POTENTIAL INCOME: $1000+ per month

Laptop on a desk

Do you like the idea of helping small local businesses grow and make more money?

Most small business owners have no clue about running Facebook ads. But they could be leaving loads of money on the table because they are not able to reach the right customers.

What if they could spend $1000 a month on ads and get an extra $5,000 in revenues? This is what Facebook Ad Managers do. They help any kind of business grow and scale, using the power of digital advertising.

And it’s what you could do in your spare time, from anywhere.

There are plenty of things you can do with Facebook ads:

  • Driving traffic to a website or blog, or videos.
  • Getting post engagement (likes, comments, reactions, shares).
  • Drive eCommerce sales.
  • Generate leads.
  • Grow an email list.
  • And a lot more…

Your goal will depend on your clients.

And how much can you make?

The sky is the limit!

You can earn more than $50,000 a year managing ads to start, but top Facebook Ads managers can earn over $300,000.

Nicholas Kusmich, who used to be a pastor making $30,000 a year, started running Facebook ads at the very beginning, and he now manages over $9 million per month in ads.

You don’t need any special qualifications to get started. Just a strong will to learn and be willing to hustle and reach out to business owners to sell your services.

Want to join in the fun? Learn how to run a Facebook Ads marketing campaign by watching this free training here.

20. Create an online course

POTENTIAL INCOME: $500+ per month

Think about it:

Is there something you are really good at that other people keep asking you about?

If you are a web developer by day, could you teach others how to code? Or, if you take incredible photos of your kids, could you package that up and explain to other parents how to do the same?

Selling your expertise online can be worth a lot of money.

The e-learning industry is growing exponentially every year, and it’s expected to be triple in size between 2022-2030.

And if you want in, the sooner you start, the better.

There are several platforms where you can start your own course.

Skillshare is a membership-based learning community. This means that as a course creator, you’ll be making money for every minute of your courses Premium students watch. Or for every new student you’ll bring on the platform.

Udemy is similar, although each course is sold separately. As a course creator, your revenue will depend on how many courses you sell.

If you already have an online audience on your blog, Instagram, or YouTube Channel, or want to build one, Teachable could be the perfect option.

How much money can you make selling courses online?

It depends on your course price and how well you market it. Skillshare says an average teacher makes about $200 a month.

But top teachers can make up to $10k a month. Ali Addaal made $515,000 on Skillshare in 2020! The sky is the limit.

Go to the Teachable Homepage and register for their incredibly informative free webinar to see if teaching online is for you.

21. Sell stock photos

POTENTIAL INCOME: $200+ per month

Top view of Photos on a desk

You probably know you can make money taking pictures at weddings or taking portraits.

But have you ever heard of stock photos?

Websites, business owners, bloggers, etc., need images to publish on their articles, web pages, and social media channels. But not everyone has the time or the artistic skills to take pictures. So what do they do? They buy stock photos from agencies online!

And these agencies will sell your work for you.

Stock sites work on a royalty system. This means that you receive money each time someone downloads your photo.

How much you can earn depends on the quality of your photos and how searchable they are on the platform.

Top things to photograph:

  • Inspiring landscape (peace, unspoiled beauty).
  • Everyday objects in use.
  • Christmas and holiday.
  • People performing everyday actions.
  • Isolate objects on white background.
  • Backgrounds (images with enough space that can be used to write something on).
  • Photos representing a concept: like a snow day, camping, travel, or working from home.

22. Start a meal delivery service

POTENTIAL INCOME: $500+ per month

photo of a lunch box

Most of us are stuck in front of a computer all day or busy running after kids.

But we still need to eat.

And not everyone feels like they have the time (or the will) to prepare healthy meals every day.

More and more people are realizing the importance of eating a wholesome diet, and demand for food delivery is increasing.

If you love cooking, how about starting a local meal delivery service?

Before you start your own service, there are a few things to consider.

First, you need to decide your food niche. Many people now have various dietary requirements such as vegan, keto, paleo, gluten-free, dairy-free, and so on.

Second, you need to decide on your business model:

  • Deliver fully prepared meals.
  • Deliver pre-measured ingredients and a recipe for the meal. This approach has been getting more and more popular!

You can start by marketing your service with friends and family and use word of mouth and social media, like Instagram, to let people know what you do.

Andrei, from One Life Meals, started his meal delivery service to help his fitness clients. And from humble beginnings, he now makes over $100,000 a month with his meals.

Before you start, check with your state health department what certifications you need before cooking from your family kitchen.

23. Make Videos For Money

POTENTIAL INCOME: $1000+ per month

YouTuber filming herself with a camera

Love the idea of becoming a YouTube or TikTok star?

I warn you: this will take time, and you’ll require a lot of determination.

A bit like with blogging: don’t give up too soon. I would suggest you stick with it for a year.

But the reward can be incredible. My friend Pontypants was able to quit his job after only 8 months.

To start a YouTube channel, all you need to get started is a Gmail account and a decent camera! You also need to decide what your videos are going to be about. Pick a topic and stick to it. But don’t be afraid to experiment with different video formats and ideas.

After you get 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time, you’ll be able to place ads on your videos and earn money with Google AdSense.

How much you can make depends on how many views your videos get and the particular advertisers. Not all advertisers pay the same amounts!

Generally, the average YouTuber makes between $3 and $10 per 1,000 views.

You can also make money with affiliate marketing, merchandising, your own products, and more.

TikTok, on the other hand, is taking over the world, with over 1 billion active users.

There are several ways to make money on the platform using their signature short video format. From affiliate marketing to brand deals or getting paid by TikTok to simply upload content!

24. Caring for others

POTENTIAL INCOME: $15+ per hour

Babysitter playing on bed with little girl: the perfect way to make and extra $1,000

If you love caring for others, babysitting could be a great way to earn $1000!

Babysitting has been around for a long time, and it’s still the perfect side job to make extra money.

Care.com is one of the best places to find babysitting jobs.

But there is much more to this site. You can also find pet sitting jobs, senior care, special care, or even housekeeping jobs.

This means you can get paid for snuggling someone’s furry friend, caring for their grandma or grandpa, cleaning someone’s house, or even teaching their children math!

Signing up is free. Once your profile is created, you can start listing your services and apply to jobs immediately.

You can also ask Care.com to run a background check on you to make sure you are who you say you are. This will give your potential employers an extra layer of security and will give you more opportunities to be hired.

If you want to message potential clients or schedule an interview, you’ll need to pay for the premium membership, which costs $39 per month, or $13 per month if you pay for the whole year.

Simply sign up to Care.com to get started.

25. Sell your art

POTENTIAL INCOME: $300+ per month

Artist paining a portrait to make $1000 a month

So you are an artist. And you are wondering if you can turn your hobby into money.

The answer is yes! But you’ll need a bit of patience and the right strategy.

You’ll need to combine your passion with a business mindset.

I know, I know, artists don’t like numbers. But if you hear me out and set up things right, you’ll be able to make some useful extra money.

Isn’t that why you are here in the first place?

  • Market yourself and your work: Open an Instagram account and start sharing your art there.
  • Open a website and showcase your art. Look into Squarespace. Squarespace is the top platform used by the creative community. So it’s a great place to start. You can then use your website to sell your art directly.
  • Sell your art through online platforms. You could reach a wider audience by using an online platform like Etsy. And transfer your artwork to physical products like t-shirts or mugs. Or you could use online galleries like Saatchi Art. They have an incredible following of over 12+ million people a month. But they’ll take a 35% cut for selling your work.

Luke started his Etsy shop “Van Woof” selling dog portraits. He now has his own store and makes over $1000 a day. Yes, that’s right! Not $1000 a month!

  3. Great tips here. Thanks for putting this together. I’ve done eBay for years and it’s a great side hustle, flipping products for profit from Charity shops or thrift stores is fun!!

    1. Thanks, John! I don’t think I personally have the patience for finding deals in charity shops and thrift store but I agree it can be a great fun way to make some extra income. I have friends that do it and are quite successful with it, which is why I have included that in the list.
      Thanks for stopping by!

I’m just trying to find ways to make money I don’t have a website I just need to learn how to make money from the web site without being scammed

    1. Hi Mitice,
Every way to make money you’ll find on this blog is legit.
But no matter what people say, there isn’t an easy way to make lots of money! You always need to put in the hard work 🙂

Focus groups are probably the easiest way to make quick money but you need to apply for several to be picked! And it’s not consistent income. It’s just a nice way to make some easy $$$.

      Good luck!
